JOB TITLE:            Toolmaker

REPORTS TO:       Toolroom Manager

Role Purpose:

The Toolmaker maintains and repairs all moulds in a high-volume injection moulding manufacturing facility. In addition, the Toolmaker has responsibility for the manufacture and repair of jigs and fixtures and spare parts for injection moulds. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis (subject to a six-month probation period).


Key Responsibilities:

The Toolmaker will:

  • Repair and maintain all high-precision moulds, to include multi-cavity moulds, Hot Runner moulds; Valve-gated moulds; Stack moulds.

  • Compile standard specifications/procedures/records for each mould and monitor all existing moulds to standard specifications.

  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.

  • Work with Production and Engineering teams in troubleshooting mould problems.

  • Carry out Tool builds.

  • Support initial Tool trials and validations, etc.

  • Support Tool changes where required.

  • Ensure highest Quality & Compliance standards, participating and complying with the Quality Management System.

  • Identify and generate opportunities for improvement and actively participate in the implementation of corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including quality requirements, financial controls, health and safety regulations, etc.

The ideal candidate:

It is essential that the Toolmaker has a toolmaking qualification, or working towards this qualification and time served with a toolmaker. A good knowledge of injection moulding tooling, trouble shouting repair and maintenance for the role, while an understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics would be an advantage. Possessing excellent interpersonal, teamwork, IT and communication skills, it is essential that the Toolmaker works effectively with others to achieve challenging objectives. The Toolmaker will be a self-starter, results-oriented with a strong work ethic and the ability and resilience to work under pressure
