Summary

The Supply Chain Manager leads the customer service, purchasing, and scheduling functions.  Employee assigned to this position will be responsible for the integration of supply chain activities leading to optimal customer service, product supply, inventory investment and cost.  Will direct and coordinate all materials related activities.  Responsible for providing organization, operation and control of the elements pertaining to the customer supply chain process at the MGS Leixlip Molding facility.  This includes procurement, receipt, storage, scheduling, dispersal and shipment of finished products, parts and services. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Know and follow all of the Company’s safety rules, such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Direct the activities of the Supply Chain Department to ensure the timely receipt and scheduling of all material requirements.  Includes buying, planning, and scheduling activities to ensure that shipments meet customer demands.

  • Direct the development, maintenance and accuracy of the master production schedule and the materials requirements plan.

  • Develop, implement, and influence best practices in the discipline of customer service, forecasting, supply chain management, inventory management, warehouse management and master scheduling.

  • Analyze trade-offs and issues impacting production, materials planning, scheduling, customer service and warehouse.

  • Develop and implement production and inventory optimization strategies for product promotions, new product introductions and discontinued products.

  • Responsible for managing monthly labour and production metrics as it pertains to customer service, purchasing, warehouse and inventory management.

  • Work closely with key suppliers to reduce raw material inventory, delivery lead time, and inbound logistics cost.

  • Work closely with manufacturing to develop long-term capacity plan for manufacturing facility.

  • Provide tactical and strategic direction, serve as a point of contact, prepare briefings for senior management and assist in problem resolution.  

  • Negotiate and handle contracts with vendors.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in business with a minimum of 10 years of materials experience and 7 years of demonstrated leadership experience in global procurement, planning and distribution. 

  • APICS Certification a plus. 

  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems. 

  • Proficient with computer-based methods and tools, knowledgeable in IT programs and Lean Manufacturing with strong procurement negotiating skills and a strong working knowledge of ERP systems.

o   Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate the English language in a proficient manner.

  •      Computer Skills

o  Good understanding and ability to perform tasks and create documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Microsoft AX, and IQMS.

o   Organization of personal workspace and organizational assistance to others is also required.

o   Required to travel, both domestically and potentially internationally, for customer visits, supplier visits, and industry events.  (up to 15%).
